Crystal Serenity Successfully Finishes Sea Trials in Preparation for July’s Inaugural Sailing

One year since A&K Travel Group acquired Crystal Cruises, its inaugural sailing of Crystal Serenity under new ownership is nearly underway.

Crystal Cruises announced today that Serenity had successfully completed sea trials ahead of her upcoming cruise from Marseille, France which departs July 31. As part of these tests, an array of officers, technicians, and engineers from aboard tested out various aspects of technical and mechanical systems onboard; all were passed inspection.

“Completing sea trials was one of the final steps required before returning our vessels back into service,” noted Senior Vice President of Marine Operations Roberto Fazi. “We’re extremely proud to recognize all those on both shipboard and shoreside who contributed towards reaching this momentous achievement. “

At present, Serenity is nearing completion of her refurbishment at an Italian shipyard and upon board guests can expect updated and larger suites with artisanal finishes, refreshed specialty dining venues and cutting-edge onboard wellness amenities, such as Aurora Spa. Also notable will be a brand new pickleball court as well as renewed entertainment and events programs.

Crystal recently presented its design concepts for two ships–Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony–to the public for consideration.

“Crystal is thrilled to welcome back guests with an updated look and feel that combines elements from its longstanding past with new vision suitable for its bright future,” Cristina Levis, chief executive officer of A&K Travel Group which purchased Crystal last year, said at that time.

GEM architectural firm will redesign guestrooms and suites using neutral tones with high-end fixtures in combination with subtle pastel hues as well as grays and beige tones that echo ocean colors, according to Crystal.

These ships will also feature new accommodations categories for single travelers such as Junior Crystal Penthouse Suite and Single Guest Room with Ocean View for solo travellers.

Crystal Serenity will continue its Mediterranean cruises through August before moving northward in September to North America for Canadian and Caribbean sails until 2023.

This ship will also serve as host vessel for the anticipated 2024 World Cruise.
